Happy New Years – Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016

Happy New Years everyone!

Happy New Years. I am so glad another year is in the books. 2015 was an intense year for myself personally and for this site. In the beginning of 2015 I had taken the site offline. I had personal issues that led to my lack of interest in doing outdoor activities (or leaving the house). A lot of it had to do with the environment I was in. Living in Chicago you are very limited in nature. Everywhere you go you can still see or hear the cities presence. Add that to a long hour stressful job, long commutes and it will wear you down.

Thankfully the second half of 2015 turned out to be amazing. I was fortunate enough in 2015 to take multiple small vacations. With that I saw many great places in this country. One of my best friends and I drove from Chicago to Colorado and skied Keystone, Copper, Vail (two days) and A-Basin. Amazing! I was able to fly to DC and do some hiking there. My girlfriend and I did a road trip to Charleston, SC, Atlanta, GA and Nashville, TN. We also flew to Phoenix and did hiking in the Sedona Red Rocks. And lastly, I received a new job that has taken me to the great Pacific Northwest.

I am very fortunate in my life. I know now to look at the positives in life and not the negatives. Anxiety, worry, depression, debt, fear of the unknown… that is still all there (hopefully not debt soon haha). But it doesn’t control and direct my life anymore. Here is to a great 2016 with even more memorable adventures!

Below is a collection of photos from many of the great adventures I had the opportunity to experience in 2015!
